It was a blue moon that night that only happens once in a while, but under that blue moon was Snake River Animal Shelter’s first ever New Year’s Eve Gala; the biggest even of the year. Over 300 people at the Red Lion on the Falls, joined together to give animals a new leash on life while having fun, lots of laughter, dancing and a midnight surprise.

Some gala goers raised over $8,000 by participating in the sport of the silent auction. While others won prizes like a Foozball table from Brady’s, vacations and much more in games and raffles. A little of New York City came right to Idaho Falls when CCI Crane Service raised an eight by eight foot lighted ball over 60 feet into the air to mark the new year. Party goers then danced until 1:30, making The Installers encore three times.

It took 10 months, a committee of 16, and over 30 volunteers to pull the Gala together. Under the guidance of Committee Chair, Jeanie Brady, the committee transformed the Red Lion into a magical winter wonderland that transported Gala-goers into another time.

The event was successful in raising over $30,000 that goes toward building the Snake River Animal Shelter. Committee Chair, Jeanie Brady says, “It’s nice to see the community come together to support such a wonderful cause and see that all our hard work paid off.  Not to mention, I had a Blast!”  And she is not the only one. In the following days the Gala was the talk of the town.

The first annual New Year’s Eve Gala not only set the standard for Galas giving SRAS momentum into 2010 to accomplish our goal, but sets the stage for an event to remember for years to come.
